Schroders hires real estate team for global property push

Schroders has hired two listed real estate managers from Australia's AMP Capital to create a new property team as it takes over the Investors in Global Real Estate trust.

  AMP Capital's Tom Walker and Hugo Machin are to join the fund group and form the global property securities team, which will also feature two analysts. They will oversee management of the Investors in Global Real Estate (IGRE) trust, which is to be taken over by Schroders today following a review process by the board. The Guernsey-domiciled trust plans to change its name to Schroder Global Real Estate Securities and will review its discount policy following the change.
