Peter Hargreaves donates £1m in shares to charity

Hargreaves Lansdown co-founder Peter Hargreaves has donated close to £1m in company shares to charity.

Hargreaves (pictured) made a disposal of 77,928 ordinary shares, valued at £12.83 per share, by way of a gift to charity according to a stock market announcement. The total value of the donation at the time of disposal was £999,816.24, representing 0.02% of the ordinary shares in issue. Hargreaves retains 32.18% of the ordinary shares in issue following the donation. He took 47th position on the on the Sunday Times Rich List earlier this year, up from 90th in 2012, with an estimated fortune of more than £1.5bn.
