Standard Life hires Cooper to develop workplace business

Standard Life has appointed John Cooper to its workplace executive team in order to assist in the development of the company's workplace business.

Cooper was previously the chief operating officer of Alexander Forbes from 2006 until 2012. Prior to this, he was Mercer's chief executive of the UK employee benefits business. Cooper will report to Standard Life chief executive for UK and Europe Paul Matthews for the duration of his fixed term contract with the company. Matthews said: "John has worked at the forefront of the employee benefits market for the best part of 30 years and brings with him significant experience and insights, so we're delighted John has agreed to join our team.
