Sants knighthood petition receives 1,300 signatures

An online petition calling for Hector Sants' nomination for a knighthood to be withdrawn has received more than 1,300 signatures.

'Roger C' set up the community petition on Avaaz.org on Thursday, arguing Sants is not worthy of the honour as he, as chief executive of the Financial Services Authority, failed to respond adequately to the financial crisis or maintain a fair regulatory system. The e-petition had received 1,312 signatures as of 5:30pm on Friday. "I am shocked that the government has nominated Hector Sants for a knighthood," 'Roger C' writes.
