PM to continue Cabinet reshuffle

The Prime Minister is set to continue his Cabinet re-shuffle on Tuesday after appointing Andrew Mitchell, former International Development Secretary, as his new chief whip.

The shake-up is expected to be among middle and junior-ranking ministers only. According to the BBC, Justice Secretary Ken Clarke was among those who met with David Cameron on Monday with a view to discussing new positions. Mitchell replaces Patrick McLoughlin as government chief whip, whose main role is to get Conservative MPs to vote in favour of coalition legislation. Cameron is also expected to bring back Liberal Democrat, and former chief secretary to the Treasury, David Laws as part of his shake-up, the BBC reports.
