Lord Blackwell appointed Scots Wids chairman

Lloyds Banking Group has appointed Lord Blackwell as chairman of Scottish Widows as part of a spate of senior appointments.

Lord Blackwell, a board member of the Centre for Policy Studies and a former non-executive director of Standard Life, replaces Lord Leitch who stepped down earlier this year. He assumes the chairmanship on 1 September. Lloyds also announced the appointment of both Blackwell and Carolyn Fairbairn - a non-executive director of the Financial Services Authority (FSA) between 2007 and 2011 - as non-executive directors with effect from 1 June.
