Queen's Speech to confirm public sector pension changes

The Queen's Speech will confirm the government's intention to push ahead with public sector pension reform despite opposition from major unions.

The Queen will address parliament this morning and is set to confirm the government's intention to continue with the reform package. Unions have organised mass walk outs over the changes - with another large strike planned for tomorrow. However, the government is set to continue with plans to change public sector schemes from final salary set ups to career average arrangements in the next parliamentary session. This would allow the new schemes to start from 2015, the BBC reports. It also said the scheduled white paper on reform of social care had been delayed until the summer...
