Advisers reluctant to let clients self-serve - research

The majority of advisers will not offer a self-directed service to clients after the Retail Distribution Review (RDR), recent findings suggest.

Cofunds research polling more than 600 advisers last month found a significant majority of 69% (423 respondents) have no plans to allow certain client segments to self-serve using tools and services through their website. Just 14% said they plan to develop a self-directed service, with 17% saying they already do so. The findings come as several platforms, including Ascentric, Elevate and Nucleus, prepare to roll out Hargreaves-style execution-only offerings for adviser clients.
