IFA granted appeal over dismissal for abusing clients while drunk

An independent financial adviser who admitted to offending a client while drinking alcohol has been given the right to appeal an employment tribunal's decision that her sacking was justified.

Amanda Daughters was dismissed from Aqua Financial Solutions on 12 March 2010 for her behaviour during a meeting with two clients on 22 January 2010. An employment tribunal dismissed her claims of unfair dismissal and wrongful dismissal in October, ruling she "had got drunk" and "abused a client". The Tribunal had heard that the clients claimed Daughters had already been drinking when she met with the them, proceeded to become "more inebriated" and even called one of them a derogatory term.
