Peers push for child benefit exclusion from welfare cap

The Bishop of Ripon and Leeds, the Right Rev John Packer has put down an amendment to the Welfare Reform Bill excluding child benefit, reports the BBC. Meanwhile, the former Bishop of Hulme, the Right Reverend Stephen Lowe, told the BBC the cap would potentially "put another 100,000 children into poverty." The £26,000 annual limit would come into force in England, Scotland and Wales from 2013.
