Commons Speaker keeps £40K pension

Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow will not suffer any cuts to his pension although MPs, the Prime Minister and the Chancellor will see reform to theirs.

Yesterday, MPs passed a motion to hand the power to set their pension amounts to the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA). The motion also ensured MPs will face the same increases to their contribution rates as other public sector workers. However, Bercow's pension is not subject to the rule change and he has refused to contribute to it or reform it, the Telegraph reports.
