Dow Jones creates blue chip indices for Europe and Asia

Dow Jones has launched blue chip indices designed to be European and Asian versions of the Dow Jones Industrial Average.

"We are capitalising on two things: the global brand recognition of the Dow and furthering our goal to bring out more index products specifically for Europe," says Jamie Farmer, executive director of global business development and communications at Dow Jones Indexes. The Europe Dow and the Asia Dow both comprise 30, equally weighted stocks, which are selected by the same committee that maintains the Industrial Average.
