Firms warned on fake FSA tax evasion email

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has told firms to ignore a scam email telling them the regulator intends to take action agaisnt them for tax evasion.

Appearing to be sent from the address [email protected], the email says "a criminal complaint has been filled [sic] against your company" and that "your company is being accused of trying to commit tax evasion schemes". To make it appear genuine, it includes a correct email address and telephone number to contact the regulator directly. However, the FSA has said recipients should not reply to the message or click on any of the links provided. It added: "We can confirm that this is a scam email and it has not been sent by us.
