Expats mount Parliamentary campaign for pension equality

A group of expatriates fighting for their pensions to be indexed equally with those of UK pensioners has taken the campaign to Parliament.

The International Consortium of British Pensioners (ICBP) recently lost an appeal in the European Court of Justice (ECJ) to have their pensions indexed in line with CPI. Currently, UK state pensions are not increased each year when paid to people living in around 150 countries including Australia, Canada and South Africa. Now a group of MPs led by Conservative MP for Portsmouth North Penny Mordaunt, has tabled an early day motion (EDM) urging the government to equalize all expat pensions.
