Millions of under-16s will live to get Queen's telegram

Around three million children will live to the age of 100, according to research from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP).

DWP figures show ten million people today will live to receive a telegram from the Queen, three million of whom are currently under 16. Some of those children are expected to live to 110. Steve Latto, head of pensions at Alliance Trust Savings, said: "Everyone is encouraged by the news that more and more of us will live longer but this does mean that our children may have many more years of retirement to fund than their parents or grandparents generation. "Parents can give their child's retirement saving a great kick-start by opening a SIPP on behalf of their child."
