Hargreaves pulls VCT ad after discount complaint

Hargreaves Lansdown Asset Management has withdrawn an advertisement on Google for its VCT brokerage service following a complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).

A Google sponsored link, which claimed Hargreaves offered the "biggest VCT discounts", received a complaint from a member of the public. The complainant said the claim Hargreaves has the largest VCT discounts could not be substantiated. The ASA approached Hargreaves about the complaint and the advert was removed without a formal investigation. On its website, Hargreaves Lansdown describes itself as "the UK's leading VCT broker - administering more VCT investments than anyone else". It says: "The average discount on the VCTs we have offered is 3% and over the last three tax years...
