FSA appoints senior adviser on mutuals

The FSA has appointed former Stroud & Swindon boss John Sutherland as a senior adviser on the building society sector.

Sutherland has more than 36 years experience in the retail banking sector, holding several senior positions at Nationwide, including director of sales and marketing. In 2009, Sutherland was a special adviser to the Bank of England's special Resolution Unit. Last year was appointed chief executive of Stroud & Swindon Building Society during its merger with Coventry Building Society.
