Pension rules deter over half of workers

More than half of the working population would save more into a pension if legislation did not act as a barrier, according to research from MetLife.

British workers say they would save more if tax relief was higher, pension rules were simpler and they could access their savings earlier. A majority of 82% of respondents also called for more education on pension issues. Regardless of current legislation, 46% of respondents say they cannot afford to save for retirement in the economic climate and need a pay rise to do so.
