US stocks post best September since 1939

Wall Street saw its strongest September since 1939 despite lingering concerns over US economic growth.

While September is historically one of the slowest months of the year, the Dow Jones closed 7.72% higher for the month. The last time Wall Street saw a stronger September was at the start of World War II, when demand for US manufactured goods and war materials drove the bellwether index 13.5% higher.
