GEM funds soar in value by 60% - Defaqto

Global emerging market funds have soared in value by 60%, with interest in the sector set to grow further as developed economies struggle with recession, says Defaqto.

According to a study by the research company, the average increase in value of unit trusts and OEICs in the global emerging market sector from February 2009 to February 2010 was almost 60%. "The expectations of many economic commentators are that the emerging markets will, over the longer term, continue to grow more rapidly than developed ones," says author of the report Fraser Donaldson.
