Capello announces preliminary squad

Adam Johnson, Scott Parker, Michael Dawson and Tom Huddlestone are the surprise names in Fabio Capello's initial 30-man World Cup squad.

Jamie Carragher completes his return from the international wilderness, having made himself available for selection for the first time in three years, while Ledley King and the Gareth Barry have also been picked despite fitness concerns. Stephen Warnock and Darren Bent are also chosen, but there is no place for Carlton Cole or Bobby Zamora. The final 23-man squad will be announced by 1 June.
