Morning Markets: FTSE boosted by late recovery on Wall Street

London's leading shares are showing slight gains this morning as a late recovery on Wall Street boosts investor sentiment.

In early trading, the FTSE was up 19.85 points, or 0.35%, to 5,685.18 as Wall Street recovered from market jitters caused by an escalation of the Greek crisis. Banks are amongst the early movers. RBS shares were up 1.45p, or 2.69%, to 55.30p, with Barclays higher at 360.55p, up 0.85p or 0.24%, and Lloyds' shares rising 1.24p to 67.72p, up 1.87%. Insurance companies were the early fallers, with shares in Aviva down 2.20p, or 0.59%, to 371.80p, and reinsurer RSA Insurance Group shares down 0.60p, or 0.49%, to 122.30p.
