UK moving out of recession

UK GDP grew in the three months to November to edge the country out of recession, forecasts by the National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR) suggest.

Output increased by 0.2% in November, after a decline of 0.3% in the three months to October, according to the Institute's monthly growth estimates. The figures assume this year's third quarter contraction in GDP will be revised to 0.1% following recent data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) on the construction sector. It said last week, construction output increased by 2% in the third quarter, cancelling out its most recent estimates for GDP which included a 1.1% fall in construction output.
