Daily market snapshot: European markets climb 1%

European markets have climbed steadily this morning with the FTSE 100 up 1.2% and the FTSE Eurofirst 1.1% higher.

In stock news, National Express has announced it would attempt to raise £390m in a rights issue, but without the backing of its largest investor. Over in the US, equities were little changed on Tuesday after rallying sharply in the previous session. The lack of direction in the market was not too surprising as the earnings calendar continued to slow and investors waited for the next key batch of macro data out of China.
