Pre-Budget Report due on 9 December

The next Pre-Budget Report will be published on Wednesday 9 December, the Chancellor has confirmed.

Alistair Darling is expected to outline the Government's plans for economic recovery and reducing public debt. It will be the last pPre-Budget Report before the next General Election, which must be held by June 2010. Labour will outline plans to reduce public debt by half over a four-year period, though the Tories have demanded the Government start cutting costs now to save taxpayers money in the future.
