The British Standards Institute (BSI) will develop a standard for compliance by retail and wholesale financial firms in the UK.
The voluntary standard will attempt to set out common standards for good practice to complement existing regulation. Director of standards at BSI Mike Low says: "This standard will provide a robust and consistent framework within which an organization will be able to administer and manage its compliance programme, providing reassurance to senior managers, regulators and customers by reducing the risk of compliance failure.
