Investor confidence at 42-month high

Confidence among active investors is at its highest in three and a half years, suggests research by the Association of Investment Companies (AIC).

It says more than half - 52% - of investors plan to increase stockmarket investments, compared to just 33% a year ago. February 2006 was the last time confidence was so high, reaching 54%. The trade body says the general public are also at their most positive on the stockmarket since 2004, when AIC records began. Public confidence in the UK housing market is also well up on last year, rising to 22% from an all time low of 5%, though is still far short of the highs seen during peak years.
