European markets opened up 1.0% this morning (FTSE Eurofirst 300 and FTSE 100) led by the banks and commodity stocks.
US markets clawed back some of their losses from the previous two sessions yesterday, following earnings that beat consensus estimates from McDonald's, New York Times and PNC Financials Services. The Dow Jones added 1.3%; the S&P 500, 1.1%.
