FTSE progress supported by insurers and BA

The FTSE 100 continues to advance this morning, adding 5.55 points, or 0.12%, to 4,762.13 at just past 9:30am.

After an earlier wobble, the index regained composure, supported by a rally in British Airways shares, up 3.13% to 181p. Insurance firms also enjoyed gains as investors picked up cheap shares which were hit after a series of earnings reports earlier this month showed the impact of stock market turmoil and recession on their business. Legal and General Group added 2.17%, while Aviva rose 1.7%. Out of favour were financial software firm Sage Group, down 2.5%, and advertising firm WPP Group, off almost 2%.
