Fewer IFAs listed on Unbiased.co.uk as consolidation gathers momentum

The number of independent financial advisers listed on Unbiased.co.uk has fallen 9% in June from last year, the professional advice search engine says.

There are now 15,822 individuals registered with the online service that puts consumers in touch with IFAs, down from 17,285 in 2008. The number of branch addresses listed is down 7% to 8,122. The database reduction comes after Unbiased.co.uk conducted its annual audit which requires member firms to declare their independent status. Under the criteria, member IFAs have to declare they offer whole of market advice and a fees payment option for each product area that they list in their top nine specialist areas on the website.
