Angela Eagle has replaced Rosie Winterton as pensions minister as Gordon Brown continues to reshuffle his cabinet in a bid for survival.
Eagle has been promoted from parliamentary undersecretary to the post, while Winterton will become regional minister in the Business, Innovation and Skills Department. This further shake-up in the pensions space comes after James Purnell's shock resignation as work and pensions secretary last week. Former chief secretary to the Treasury, Yvette Cooper has taken on the role. Eagle has been exchequer secretary to the Treasury since Brown became prime minister in June 2007.
