IFAs uncertain of annuities profitability

Most IFAs believe they need to double the amount of annuity business they write to generate a "credible" income stream, research suggests.

Despite reports lauding the annuity market as a growing sector, a Just Retirement study shows one in three IFAs has written fewer than 10 annuity cases in the past year. It suggests almost half (46%) of IFAs would write more annuities business if their clients had larger pension pots to play with. However, almost a quarter (24%) would be happy to refer small cases to a third party if this option was available.
