Charles Deptford joins Smith & Williamson

Charles Deptford is to join Smith & Williamson Investment Management on 3 June as a manager on the S&W Enterprise fund and as lead manager the group's UK Special Situations and UK Equity Growth funds.

Deptford, previously manager of the New Star Equity Income fund, will assist lead manager Rupert Fleming on Enterprise, an offshore low volatility, long/short UK equity fund domiciled in the Cayman Islands, and will see the group able to fulfill its plans to launch a UCITs III retail version of the fund, expected to be in October. The launch had been delayed by the resignation of Fleming's co-manager Mark Boucher earlier this year.
