GLOBAL markets are unlikely to enter into a recession despite weakening economic data, according to Robert Parker, vice chairman of Credit Suisse.
Parker went so far as to predict global GDP growth of around 5pc. He said that the global economy will be supported by strength in the emerging economies, with problems in the US having only a limited impact on these regions. Parker pointed out that equity markets have largely recovered well from the turmoil of the summer months. "Year to date, the Dow Jones index is still over 8pc higher, while the FTSE 100 is up around 4pc," he explained. "In Germany, the DAX is showing gains of more than 18pc.
