HMRC notes record ISA surge

A RECORD number of investors are putting their savings into ISAs, new statistics from HMRC suggest.

Preliminary numbers through the third quarter of the 2007/8 Tax Year revealed significant increases in most areas. In the first three quarters of that period, savers investors subscribed the most money into ISAs since the scheme was created. More people placed money in mini stocks and shares ISAs than ever before, with 1.4 million accounts subscribed to; an increase of 7.6pc from a year earlier.
