SOCIETE Générale Asset Management has boosted its UK investment team with the appointment of a new small and mid cap specialist from HSBC.

Colin Riddles is to join the SocGen UK equity team in the New Year. He will take over as lead manager of the £114m SG UK Smaller Companies fund. Riddles will report directly to Harinder Sandhu, head of UK equities. Sandhu, who has been lead-managing the fund since the departure of Richard Staveley, will return to acting as support manager on the fund. Riddles’ forthcoming departure from HSBC follows his fund being handed to the banking giant’s active quantitative strategies team Sinopia, where it is being managed by Nils Jungbacke.
