Tributes pour in for Chris Phillips

THE former chief executive of Scottish Widows Investment Partnership has died aged 50 after being struck down by hypothermia in the Pyrenees.

Chris Phillips, who was set to become chief executive of Norwich Union’s investment arm Morley Fund Management this summer, was caught in severe weather on April 4 while trekking in northern Spain. Phillips, who joined SWIP in 2003, had been on leave since January ahead of beginning his new role at Morley. He was well known in the industry and held a number of roles outside his position at SWIP.
