S&W hires Pignatelli in retail market push

Smith & Williamson has hired Mark Pignatelli to run the European Growth Trust as the first stage in a plan to expand and push the group's profile in the retail fund market.

The European Growth Trust is currently outsourced to New Star where it is run on an institutional investment basis but S&W is bringing the fund back in-house and Pignatelli who joins the group on November 10 will take over the running of the fund from December 1.
