Technology threat to paraplanners

The increasing popularity of high tech solutions for advisory firms could bring an end to the traditional paraplanner role, according to 2plan Wealth Management.

The national IFA firm warns despite growing regulatory and cost pressures on advisers, greater direct employment of paraplanners will only increase the burden for many firms. It says rather than employ more paraplanners, technology should play a bigger part in business models. "Choosing a centralised technology-led route, with chartered experts on tap, not only makes fiscal sense, but on a broader commercial level it also means that some of the very highly competent and qualified paraplanners can then be up-skilled to become fully qualified advisers in their own right," says Chris Smallw...
