MetLife unveils "best of both worlds" retirement portfolio

MetLife Europe has launched a "unique" personal pension product that offers both capital and income guarantees.

The New Retirement Portfolio is billed as offering the "best of both worlds", providing the features of a conventional annuity, such as income certainty and protection against market falls, alongside those of a straight drawdown product, such as fund control and exposure to future market gains. In this way, it offers what MetLife describes as "a complete guarantee solution." The plan is fully flexible, offering investors the option of opting into the guarantees, as and when required.
