In recent months, the FSA has faced strong criticism from IFAs who believe it favours bankers and is not doing a good enough job of regulating financial advisers.
The regulator also received another blow last month as chairman Lord Adair Turner hinted principles-based regulation had not worked and may be replaced with a more heavy-handed approach. However, while the regulator may feel it can never regain the good opinion of advisers, out panel survey this week gives the guys at Canary Wharf some gleams of hope.
