Clarity between sales and advice will be fundamental to the success of the RDR, with three quarters of consumers (74pc) backing this split, according to AIFA.
The association has published its research in the first of a series of issue papers to come in the run up to the FSA's formal RDR feedback statement, which is due in November. The first paper looks at the proposed differentiation between sales and advice, and recommends that the sales sector should offer sales with and without persuasion. Just 5pc of consumers questioned said they opposed a sales/advice split, with AIFA keen to stress that sales and advice industries can work in tandem to serve client needs.
