Intermediaries say market is getting worse

Eight out of ten mortgage intermediaries believe conditions in the mortgage market are getting worse, according to a survey by the Intermediary Mortgage Lenders Association (IMLA).

However, nether intermediaries or lenders believe the UK will enter a full-scale recession despite the problems in financial markets. A survey of brokers found 80% though the mortgage market is becoming less positive, while two in ten thought things were unchanged. A small handful felt the market was getting better, according to IMLA. Brokers in the South East were more positive, with 22% saying conditions remain unchanged, compared with 16% in other regions.
