Sainsbury's continues to drag FTSE

The FTSE fell to 6456.2p this afternoon after dropping 74.4 points, or 1.14%.

Sainsbury’s continued to fall today after Qatari fund Delta Two pulled its £10.6bn takeover bid. Alliance & Leicester fell 43.5 points, or 5.95%, to 687p. Mitchells & Butlers fell 31 points, or 4.7%, to 628p. Vedanta Resources fell 102 points, or 4.67%, to 2084p. Experian fell 19.5 points, or 4.02%, to 465.5p. Carphone Warehouse Group rose 8.5 points, or 2.46%, to 353.5p. Vodafone rose 3.1 points, or 1.68%, to 187.1p. Unilever rose 18 points, or 1.04%, to 1748p. Taylor Wimpey rose 1.75 points, or 0.76%, to 233p. BT Group rose 2.25 points, or 0.7%, to 322p. The Dow Jones fell 36....
