General insurance intermediaries will have to be authorised one way or another if they want to continue doing business as of 14 January.
However, jumping the gun slightly, the FSA set yesterday, 13 July, as the deadline for receiving applications for which it would guarantee authorisation by the start of the new regime. Applications will still be processed, but without that guarantee – which could make for an interesting mid-January break for those businesses that have failed to meet the deadline. Betting on getting authorisation in time may be a struggle, however, as the FSA said last month it was having difficulties getting all relevant information from those businesses that had already put forward applications. ”...
