FTSE high after US rebound

In London, shares jumped in early trading after US stocks saw a late rebound on Monday and the FTSE 100 was up 82.3 points, or 1.33%, to 6,288.4.

British Airways shares were lifted due to bad weather driving UK tourists abroad, up 15 points, or 3.92%, to 397.75p. Rio Tinto shares added 123 points, or 3.56%, to £35.74 while Lonmin shares gained 119p, or 3.56%, to £34.63. Lloyds TSB shares were up by 19 points, or 3.55%, to 553.5p and Anglo American gained 3.55% to £28.58. Big gains were offset by some minor losses, including Unilever, which saw shares fall 18p, or 1.17%, to £15.26.
