O'Brien confirms 2012 personal accounts deadline

The Government will meet the 2012 pension reforms deadline, says Pensions Minister Mike O'Brien.

His confirmation follows comments by Tim Jones, chief executive officer of the Personal Accounts Delivery Authority (PADA), on the BBC’s Money Box programme last month. Jones said he did not know if PADA could achieve the deadline and that he might tell ministers he will set a later date. He said: “As incoming CEO it makes sense for me to review the plans. “I understand the desire for 2012 and so far I have not seen anything that says it is unachievable but I need to do that review and when I’ve done that review I will be able to have a conversation about what a proper date is.” Howeve...
