The FSA has followed up its recent suggestion for retail investors to get access to UK-based onshore hedge funds by proposing changes to its wholesale rules that would support such a move.
Consultation Paper 06/4 Implementation of the Transparency Directive / Investment Entities Listing Review sets out changes to the listing rules, to make them more principles-based, resulting in “a wider range of investment strategies, including those currently pursued by some hedge funds, to list in the UK for the first time.” This follows the regulator’s Feedback Statement to Discussion Paper 05/3 published earlier in March, which suggested a shift towards more consumer education and awareness to provide consumer protection would enable a greater variety of investment products in the mar...
