Retail investors 'optimistic' despite credit crunch

Investors are confident enough to stick with existing investments as they ‘ride out' the current financial storm, the Investment Management Association (IMA) says.

The findings come from the IMA's first bi-annual Great British Investor report, which looks at the the actions, confidence, intentions and concerns of British retail investors. It includes two new indices, developed by the IMA, to provide barometers of investor confidence. The IMA GB Investor Confidence Index stands at 78 out of 200, with 100 being neutral. This demonstrates investors as a whole are negative towards the market, reflecting current market uncertainties, says the IMA.
