The FTSE 100 Index has closed 19 points lower to 4980.40 points, paced by Corus Group.
The metal manufacturer shed 1.75p to 43.25p, while communications firm, WPP has lost 10.50p to 578p. Also on the losing side, cruise liner Carnival shed 53p to 2993p, after a US court said cruise lines that operate in US waters can be sued by passengers under a federal disabilities law, even if registered in a foreign country. Morrisons declined 3p to 187.75p, after it agreed to sell 12 Safeway sites in Northern Ireland to rival Asda for £73m.
